COLCHESTER, Vt.—Lauren Mallo (Maple Ridge, BC/Thomas Haney) had a goal and an assist, and Alyssa Koniar (New Berlin, WI/U. School of Milwaukee) made 15 saves as Buffalo State (1-0) shutout host St. Michael's (0-1), 2-0, in today's non-conference season-opener.

Freshman Courtney Orner (Peoria, AZ/Peoria) opened the scoring in the second period with an assist from Mallo. The Bengals extended the lead later in the middle stanza when Mallo tallied a power-play marker with assists from Marissa McMullan (Haileybury, ON/Chingaucousy) and Leah Knott (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson).

Buffalo State outshot St. Michael's, 25-15. The Bengals were 1 for 7 on the power-play and kill all six shorthanded situations.

Buffalo State will remain in Vermont for another non-conference contest tomorrow at 1 p.m. against Castleton State.
