PLATTSBURGH, NY—Buffalo State (10-10/5-8) outscored host Plattsburgh (2-17/0-13) 16-6 over the final five minutes to claim a 72-67 victory in a SUNYAC game today at Memorial Hall.

Staci McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) led the Bengals with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Jessica Clark (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) tallied 16 points to go with six assists and four steals, and Dee Layne (Brooklyn/East NY Family) added 12 points, 10 boards and five blocks.

Despite holding a 10-point lead early in game, Buffalo State closed the opening half behind at 31-29. The Bengals regained the lead early in the second stanza, but Plattsburgh led by five at 61-56 with less than five minutes remaining. Buffalo State mounted an 8-0 run to take the lead and hit a pair of late free throws to seal the victory. The Bengals owned the glass, outrebounding the Cardinals, 46-35.

Buffalo State will host second-place Oneonta in another league game next Friday at 6 p.m.
