BUFFALO, NY—Melissa Mahoney (Poughkeepsie/Ketcham) tallied a goal and an assist to lead visiting Buffalo State (3-3-1) to a decisive 3-0 victory over Medaille (0-7) in a non-conference game tonight at All-High Stadium.

The Bengals controlled the game from start to finish, scoring twice in the first half and adding an insurance marker in the final period. Tina Boberskyj (Rochester/Greece Odyssey) and Amanda Sauer (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) also scored for Buffalo State, and Barbara Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) had a pair of assists.

Buffalo State outshot Medaille, 18-4, including 12-1 in the first half. Virginia Porten (Auburn/Auburn) and Linda Banfield (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) combined for the shutout, playing a half each. Banfield made the stop on the only Maverick shot on goal.

Buffalo State will open SUNYAC play this Saturday with a home contest against Fredonia at 1 p.m.
