Kiliszek Leads Women’s Soccer Past Fredonia

Kiliszek’s four goals moved her into sole possession of third place on the Bengals’ all-time scoring list with 81 points.

BUFFALO, NY—Barbara Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) provided the offense for the Bengals, scoring four goals to lead Buffalo State (4-3-1/1-0) to a 4-2 win over Fredonia (3-3/0-1) in the SUNYAC opener for both teams today at Coyer Field.

Kiliszek scored her first goal in the 18th minute with a shot to the far post to give the Bengals a 1-0 lead. Fredonia answered at the 30:07 mark when Catie Hale (Lockport/Lockport) found the back of the net from 20 yards out off a ball from Katie Kleine (Cazenovia/Cazenovia). Kiliszek tallied two more goals in the first half to give Buffalo State a 3-1 lead at halftime and scored her final goal of the game off a corner kick from Amanda Smyth (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) in the second half. Kleine notched the Blue Devils second goal at 55:57 to close out all scoring. Melissa Mahoney (Poughkeepsie/Ketcham) had two assists, while Amanda Sauer (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) added one helper for Buffalo State.

The Bengals controlled the game and outshot the Blue Devils, 27-9. Virginia Porten (Auburn/Auburn) stopped five shots for the win.

Buffalo State is back in action on Friday when it hosts New Paltz at 4 p.m.
