BUFFALO, NY—Oneonta (5-2-1/2-0-1) rallied from a two-goal deficit to tie Buffalo State (5-3-2/2-0-1), 2-2, in a conference game today at Coyer Field.
The Bengals took an early lead, scoring two goals in the first 16 minutes of play.
Melissa Mahoney (Poughkeepsie/Ketcham) and
Jessica Andres (Honeoye/Honeoye) scored for Buffalo State while
Amanda Sauer (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) chipped in an assist.
Oneonta scored two quick goals off the foot of Dana DeSimome in the second half to knot things at 2-2 with neither team finding the back of the net again. One of Buffalo State's best scoring chances came in the 82nd minute when a shot by
Barbara Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) hit the crossbar.
Buffalo State finished with a 21-20 advantage in shots, and 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
Virginia Porten (Auburn/Auburn) had seven saves for the Bengals, to help extend the team's unbeaten streak to six games. For tie-breaking purposes, Oneonta finished with a 4-3 advantage in penalty kicks.
Buffalo State takes an extended break before welcoming St. John Fisher to Coyer Field on October 5.
