FARMINGDALE, NY—Buffalo State (1-1) netted a pair of first-half goals and fended off Western Connecticut State (0-1) for its first win of the season today, 2-1, in the opening game of the Farmingdale Classic.

Sophomore Jessica O'Donoghue (Franklin Square/Frank Carey) got the Bengals on the scoreboard early with her first collegiate goal off a corner kick with an assist from Katie Hennes (E. Northport/Northport). Barbara Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) extended the Bengals' lead in the 25th minute when she converted a free kick. West Conn made things interesting with a goal in the 87th minute, but Buffalo State held on for the win.

West Conn tallied a 12-10 advantage in shots, but Buffalo State's Virginia Porten (Auburn/Auburn) made seven stops to preserve the victory.

The Bengals will meet host Farmingdale tomorrow at noon.
