BUFFALO, NY—Plattsburgh's Emily LaLone (Watertown/Immaculate Heart Central) scored the only goal of the game as the visiting Cardinals (6-4-3/4-2-1) defeated Buffalo State (6-8-1/1-5-1), 1-0, in a SUNYAC match today at Coyer Field.

LaLone got Plattsburgh on the board after converting a direct kick from 18 yards out in the 37th minute.  Buffalo State's best scoring chance came in the closing minutes of the first half when Amber Smyth (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) put a shot on net from 25 yards out off a set play that was punched out by the Plattsburgh goalkeeper. 

The Cardinals outshot Buffalo State, 13-11, including a 7-3 advantage in the second half. Virginia Porten (Auburn/Auburn) finished with six saves for the Bengals, while Monica D'Ippolito (Mahopac/Mahopac) had four to earn the shutout for Plattsburgh.

The loss officially eliminates the Bengals from postseason play. 

Buffalo State will play at Oneonta Friday at 3 p.m.
