Women’s Soccer Ties New Paltz to Close SUNYAC Slate

Meghan Allen scored her fourth goal of the season
(BOX SCORE)

NEW PALTZ, NY—Buffalo State (6-9-2/1-6-2) jumped out to a 2-0 lead and held on for a 2-2 tie against host New Paltz (11-5-2/6-2-1) in the SUNYAC regular season finale today.

Buffalo State opened the scoring in the 15th minute when freshman Meghan Allen (Big Flats/Corning East) stole the ball in the box and converted her fourth goal of the season.  Senior Tina Boberskyj (Rochester/Greece-Odyssey) gave the Bengals a 2-0 lead on her fourth goal of the season, taking a pass from Jordan Dudish (Grand Island/Grand Island) and beating the Hawks' goalkeeper.

New Paltz mounted a rally in the second half, however, netting two goals of its own in the 69th and 78th minutes to even the score.  The Bengals outshot the Hawks 6-2 in the two overtime periods, but could not produce the game-winner.

Each team fired 18 shots at the opponent's goal.  Shannon Yokopovich (Webster/Webster) made nine saves for Buffalo State as an emergency goalkeeper.

Buffalo State will wrap up its season with a non-conference game at St. John Fisher on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
