BOX SCORE)
ROCHESTER, NY--Buffalo State (6-10-2) was unable to break through in its season finale, falling 1-0 against host St. John Fisher (7-8) tonight under the lights at Growney Stadium.
Although St. John Fisher outshot Buffalo State, 21-14, the Bengals had a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks. The Cardinals netted the only goal, however, notching an unassisted tally in the 69th minute.
Sophomore
Amanda Smyth (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) made nine saves in goal for Buffalo State. Smyth, a natural forward, was playing her first career game as a goalkeeper, filling a void left by injuries and class conflicts.
Buffalo State, who failed to qualify for the SUNYAC playoffs for the first time since 2008, will graduate five seniors and look to reload for the 2012 season.
