BUFFALO, NY—Amanda Sauer (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) scored the game winner in the 18th minute as Buffalo State (5-5-1) snapped its four-game winless skid, defeating Elmira (6-4), 2-0, in a non-conference match today at Coyer Field.

Sauer capitalized on an error by the Elmira goalkeeper who misplayed the bounce off a cross from Tina Boberskyj (Rochester/Greece Odyssey), to record her first goal of the season.  Jessica Andres (Honeoye/Honeoye) added an insurance marker at 68:41 off a corner kick by Alyssa Ciliberto (Spencerport/Churchville-Chili) to seal the victory.

The Bengals controlled the offensive end for the majority of the game, outshooting the Soaring Eagles, 19-11, including a 13-3 advantage in the second half.  Shannon Yokopovich (Webster/Webster Thomas) made four saves in the win for Buffalo State. 

Buffalo State resumes SUNYAC play when it travels to Cortland Friday at 4 p.m.
