CORTLAND, NY—Amanda Smyth (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) scored twice for the Bengals  but it wasn't enough as Cortland knocked in the game winner with 47 seconds remaining in the first overtime period to give the Red Dragons (7-4-1/4-1) a 3-2 win over Buffalo State (5-6-1/0-3-1) in a SUNYAC game today at Jets Field.

The Bengals battled back from two one-goal deficits to force the extra period, but lost when Cortland's Allie Maguire converted on a shot from 20 yards out.  The Red Dragons took a 1-0 lead into halftime, before Smyth scored her first goal of the season off a close shot that found the inside left post at 48:38.  Cortland regained the lead less than five minutes later until Smyth tied the game again in the 71st minute, this time with a shot from 30 yards out to the upper right corner of the net.  Amanda Sauer (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) and Melissa Mahoney (Poughkeepsie/Ketcham) each picked up an assist for Buffalo State.

Cortland outshot Buffalo State, 24-10, including a 6-0 advantage in overtime.  Virginia Porten (Auburn/Auburn) had 10 saves in the loss.

Buffalo State will play at Oswego tomorrow at 1 p.m.
