HAMBURG, NY—Kirk Love (Hamburg/Frontier) scored in the 69th minute to give Buffalo State (5-0-1) a 2-1 victory over host Hilbert (0-6) in a non-conference game this afternoon, keeping the Bengals' unbeaten record intact.

After a scoreless opening half, the Hawks struck first in the 51st minute. Buffalo State finally got on the board in the 58th minute on a header by Matt Hamister (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) off a pass from Thomas Karanas (Tonawanda/Tonawanda). Love also converted on a header from Tony Schiappa (Williamsville/Williamsville East) to push the Bengals ahead.

Buffalo State outshot Hilbert, 12-9. Ben Spilman (Queensbury/Glens Falls) made one save of shutout goal in the first half, before Neil Byrne (Hamburg/Hamburg) had one stop and one goal against in the second frame.

Buffalo State will host Roberts Wesleyan on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
