BUFFALO, NY—Brockport (5-1-1/1-0) downed Buffalo State (4-4/0-1), 2-1, in the SUNYAC opener for both teams today at Coyer Field.
The Bengals got on the board first just five minutes into the game when a Brockport defender deflected a
Meghan Allen (Big Flats/Corning East) cross past her own goalkeeper. The Golden Eagles evened things at 1-1 less than two minutes later off a corner kick opportunity. Brockport's game winner came off a Buffalo State own goal when the Bengal defender attempted to clear the ball over the end line at the 16:20 mark of the first half.
The game was suspended in the 87th minute for lightning and after an hour delay, play was resumed to finish out the 3:07 left on the clock.
Buffalo State outshot Brockport, 16-7.
Virginia Porten (Auburn/Auburn) had three saves in the loss.
Buffalo State will host Geneseo tomorrow at 1 p.m.
