Box Score PLATTSBURGH, NY—Buffalo State (4-6-5/2-1-4) battled to a 0-0 draw at Plattsburgh (5-9-1/1-5-1) in a SUNYAC game this afternoon, and then went on to win the penalty kick shootout tie-breaker, ensuring that the Cardinals cannot catch them in the standings.
The Bengals can secure a playoff berth with one point in either of their final two conference games next weekend, or a loss or a tie by Geneseo in either of its final two games.
Buffalo State controlled the balance of play, but was unable to find the back of the net despite outshooting the Cardinals 19-7. Only five of the Bengals' shots were on goal, however.
Linda Banfield (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) made four saves to secure the shutout and critical point for the Bengals.
Buffalo State will host New Paltz next Friday at 3 p.m. for another SUNYAC contest.
