Box Score FARMINGDALE, NY—Buffalo State (0-1) surrendered a pair of early goals and could not comeback, dropping a 3-1 decision to the host Rams (1-0) in today's season opener at the Farmingdale State Classic.
The Rams went on the attack early, finding the back of the net on their first two strike of the contest. They opened the scoring after just 46 seconds, and then doubled their lead 2:05 into the game.
Buffalo State did respond in only the fourth minute on a goal by
Katie Hennes (Hauppauge/Northport) with an assist from
Taylor Volkman (Wilton/S. Glens Falls), but could not generate any more offense to net an equalizer. Farmingdale completed the scoring with an insurance marker in the 74th minute.
Shots for the game were even at 10-10, and each team attempted a pair of corner kicks. Freshman
Lauren Ciranni (Rochester/Spencerport) made three saves for Buffalo State in her first collegiate start.
The Bengals will conclude play in the classic on Long Island tomorrow against Salisbury at 1:15 p.m.
