BUFFALO, NY— Jordan Dudish (Grand Island/Grand Island) scored in the 95th minute to push Buffalo State (9-4-1/5-1) to a 2-1 overtime victory over visiting Plattsburgh (4-8-2/2-3-1) in a SUNYAC contest today at Coyer Field.
Buffalo State opened the scoring in the 38th minute on a redirection by Megan Chapple (Utica/Whitesboro) off a cross from Lauren Delaney (Tonawanda/Tonawanda). The Bengals appeared as though they were going to be able to run out the clock in the second half, but the Cardinals capitalized on miscommunication between the goalkeeper and a pair of defenders. The gaffe allowed the Plattsburgh forward to sneak through and send the loose ball to the back of the goal with just 4:28 remaining in regulation.
Dudish ended the game in favor of the Bengals, however, booting a free kick from 28 yards that squirted through traffic and found the net, just 4:44 into overtime.
Linda Banfield (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) finished with seven saves as Buffalo State was outshot 12-6 for the game. Banfield's shutout streak came to an end at 353 minutes, 22 seconds.
Buffalo State will host Potsdam for another SUNYAC contest tomorrow at 10 a.m.
