Box Score PURCHASE, NY—Shaunta Pyles (Hilton/Hilton) scored in the 65th minute to lead Buffalo State (2-1-1) to a 1-0 victory over Eastern Connecticut State (3-1) today in the Manhattanville Valiant Classic.

Both teams limited opposing chances to a minimum all game, but the Bengals finally broke through when Pyles converted on a pass from Ellena Holl (Marathon/Marathon) in the second half.

The Bengals outshot Eastern 9-6 for the game, including 6-2 in the second half. Linda Banfield (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) made three stops for the shutout.

Buffalo State will host Pitt-Bradford for its home opener next Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
