RESULTSBUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State swimming and diving made a triumphant return to Kissinger Pool this afternoon, sweeping a dual meet against Pitt-Bradford. The men swam away with a 161-113 victory, and the women won 133-98.
The meet was the first for the Bengals in Kissinger Pool since Jan. 28, 2012, as the facility was closed for the past two years during a $27 million renovation to the entire Houston Gym complex which houses the newly renovated aquatic facility.
Freshman
Connor Mergler (E. Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) highlighted the men's docket, winning the 200 free (1:56.48), the 50 free (21.76) and the 100 free (48.43).
Briggs Sgaglio (Pound Ridge/Fox Lane) won three individual events on the women's team, touching first in the 200 free (2:15.22), the 400 IM (5:13.99) and the 200 fly (2:25.21).
Alison Kolczynski (Hamburg/Frontier) and
Michelle DelFavero (Auburn/Home Schooled) were both double-winners for the Bengals. Kolczynski won the 1650 free (19:34.68) and the 500 free (5:48.38), while DelFavero was first in the 100 fly (1:14.11) and the 200 breast (2:41.69).
Sarah Exposito (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) added a win in the 100 fly (1:05.70).
Other winners on the men's side included
Kevin Sullivan (Rochester/Gates-Chili) in the 1650 free (18:45.48),
Vinzenz Stadler (LeRoy/Notre Dame) in the 100 breast (1:09.56),
Tim Petranchuk (Cheektowaga/Cheektowaga) in the 500 free (5:29.27), and
Tom DePasquale (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) in the 100 fly (57.26).
Buffalo State will next host Cortland on Nov. 22 at 1 p.m.
