Swim And Dive Ready To Close Out Regular Season At Geneseo

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to the pool for their final meet of the regular season as they travel to Geneseo before they prepare for SUNYAC Championships. Meet time is slotted for 1:00 pm.

Breaking Down The Bengal Men:
  • The men enter today with a record of 4-10 after falling short to SUNYAC-rivals Cortland and New Paltz last Friday.
  • The 200 medley relay team of Colby Riexinger (Brockport, NY/Brockport), Matt Banks (Lancaster, NY/St. Joe's), Sean Mahaney (Alden, NY/Alden), and Chris Signore (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) finished with a season best time of 1:49.54.
  • Mahaney earned a third place finish in the 500 free with a season best of time 5:09.01.
  • Banks currently leads the men in eight different events and sits seventh in the SUNYAC in the 200 fly with a time of 2:03.76.
 
Breaking Down The Bengal Women:
  • The women enter today with a record of 6-8 after also falling to Cortland and New Paltz last Friday.
  • Hannah Heil (Medina, NY/Medina) won both the 50 and 100 free to help secure herself as Bengal Athlete of the Week.
  • Maggie Bilquin (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) also took home a first place finish in the 100 breast.
  • Heil and Bilquin both rank in the top-10 in the SUNYAC in their respective events as Heil sits fifth in the 50 free and eight in the 100 free while Bilquin sits seventh in the 100 breast and eighth in the 200 breast.
 
Assessing The Competition:
  • Coming into today, both the Geneseo men and women enter with a record of 7-1.
  • Last time out, both sides earned victories against Brockport.
  • All-time, Geneseo is 1-0 head-to-head with Buffalo State.
