Former Buffalo State Quarterback Kacz Named PIFL Offensive Player of the Week

NASHVILLE, TN—Former Buffalo State quarterback Casey Kacz (Amherst/Sweet Home) made his first start as a member of the Columbus Lions of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) this past weekend and set a team record for passing yards in a game en route to earning the league's Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Kacz, filling in for the injured opening week starter, led the Georgia-based Lions to a 70-60 road victory over the Trenton (Pa.) Freedom on Saturday.  In addition to tying a franchise single-game record with eight passing touchdowns, Kacz completed 25 of 40 passes for a new team record 350 yards.  Columbus is 2-0 to start the season for the first time since 2011 and will travel to face the Richmond (Va.) Raiders this Saturday.

Kacz wrapped up his playing career at Buffalo State in 2013.  A three-year starter after transferring in as a sophomore, he was a three-time All-Conference selection, piling of 6,081 passing yards and 30 touchdowns in 28 games played.  He also ran for 849 yards, a school record by a quarterback, and scored 18 touchdowns on the ground.  Kacz also owns school records for passing attempts in a season (305), completions in a season (189), completion percentage in a season (62.0), completion percentage in a career (59.2), passing yards in a game (579), and passing touchdowns in a game (tied – 5).
