BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo State head football coach
Mike Neale has announced the addition of
John Marzka and
Don Grinstead to his coaching staff for the upcoming 2026 season. Marzka will serve as the offensive coordinator/QB coach while Grinstead will serve as the offensive line coach.
Marzka joins the Buffalo State staff after most recently serving as the head prep coach for the United State Military Academy at West Point. Holding the position since 2023, Marzka was tasked with developing and advancing cadet candidates into Division I FBS programs and saw his team win the CIC Championship in 2023. Marzka most notably was the head coach at Albright College from 2007-2022 where his program saw ten postseason appearances, seven championships, and himself earning MAC and Nike Coach of the Year honors. An accomplished student-athlete in his own right, Marzka earned his bachelor's degree in psychology/neuropsychology from Allegheny College where he was a two-time All-American and was also the co-captain and center of the Gators 1990 Division III National Championship team that took down Lycoming in overtime.
Grinstead joins Neale's staff after most recently serving as the defensive line coach at Delaware Valley, where he spent two seasons contributing to a combined 16–6 record for the Aggies. During his tenure, the defense ranked among the top units nationally, including a second-place national ranking in both total defense and scoring defense in 2024. Prior to coaching in the college scene, Grinstead saw time as the head coach at Phoenixville High School and Pottstown Highschool. In 2015, he led Pottstown High School to their first winning season and postseason appearance in over a decade and was named the Mercury Area Coach of the Year. As a player, Grinstead earned All-City, All-District, and All-State honors out of Patterson Co-Op High School. He later went on to play one semi-professional season with the Dayton Drive and earned his bachelor's degree from Eastern Kentucky University and his master's in coaching education from Ohio University.
