Swimming & Diving falls in dual meet at University of Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Buffalo State dropped its first standard dual meet of the season today against a deep University of Rochester team, falling 161-47 on the women's side, and 156-63 in the men's competition.

NOTABLES
  • Cody Wittmeyer (Hamburg/Hamburg), Wesley Van (Ithaca/Ithaca), Zach Nau (Spencerport/Spencerport) and Shane Breen (Middle Village/Middle Village) teamed up to capture Buffalo State's best finish of the afternoon, claiming the 200-free relay (1:31.84). 
  • Van also posted a runner-up finish in the 50 free with a time of 23.98. 
  • Branden Rivers (Lockport/Lockport) was runner-up in the 1-meter dive with a mark of 282.22, which was his first of two required qualifying scores for the regional meet, and Cody Wittmeyer (Hamburg/Hamburg) was third in the 100 free in 49.92.
  • Michelle Viera (Smithtown/Smithtown West) was third in the 200 breast for the women in 2:51.48.

Buffalo State will host Alfred State and Fredonia for a tri-meet next Saturday at 1 p.m.
