DELAND, Fla.— Buffalo State's
Jordan Evert (Buffalo/Sweet Home) and
Martin Bailey (Buffalo/Kenmore West) lined up alongside and across from some of the best Division II and III seniors in the nation to showcase their skills in front of more than 30 scouts and general managers from the NFL and CFL this past weekend at the National Bowl senior all-star game at the SPEC Martin Stadium in DeLand, Fla.
The three-day showcase culminated with a game on Sunday, Dec. 8. Both Buffalo State players played for the American team that fell 31-29 against the National team. Bailey tallied three rushes for six yards and two catches, while Evert finished with a catch for four yards. The Bengals also both played snaps on the defensive side of the ball, each adding a solo tackle.
Evert, a senior wide receiver studying history, earned first team All-Liberty League honors after setting the program's single-season records with 92 catches for 1,182 yards, leading the league in both categories. He also caught a team-high 11 touchdown passes. Evert finished his career with 159 catches for 2,077 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Bailey, a senior running back studying business, claimed second team All-Liberty League honors after finishing with 505 rushing yards on 134 carries, including eight touchdowns. He also had 28 catches for 192 yards and another score and was 4 for 5 passing out of the "wildcat" for 148 yards and a score.
