Swimming & Diving falls to Brockport, Wittmeyer sets pool record on senior day

BUFFALO, N.Y.—Senior Cody Wittmeyer (Hamburg/Hamburg) broke the Kissinger Pool record in the 100 fly in his final home meet as a Bengal, but Buffalo State dropped a dual meet against Brockport today, with the men falling 180-106, and the women losing 197-65.

NOTABLES
  • Wittmeyer's winning time in the 100 fly of 51.45 was more than a second faster than the previous record that stood since 1998.  Wittmeyer also won the 50 free (21.93) and the 100 free (48.95), and joined Shane Breen (Middle Village/Middle Village), Wesley Van (Ithaca/Ithaca) and James Purpura (Cheektowaga/Cleveland Hill) on the winning 400 free relay (3:23.12).
  • Ryan Mahaney (Alden/Alden) was also a double-winner for the Bengals, claiming the 1,000 free by more than 13 seconds with a time of 11:01.04, and touching first in the 200 fly in 2:15.56.
  • Brockport claimed the top spot in all 16 events on the women's side.
