Phillips named to Liberty League’s honor roll

TROY, N.Y. – Freshman linebacker Cody Phillips (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) of the Buffalo State football team earned plaudits from the Liberty League, as he was named to the league's honor roll, the conference announced in a press release on Monday, Nov. 15.
 
Phillips, a converted linebacker, made the most of his increased playing time with a breakout performance against St. Lawrence last Saturday. The rookie tallied a career-best 11 tackles, including five solo and 1.5 for loss. He was also credited with a half-sack and a quarterback hurry.
 
Phillips has earned more playing time over the last few games of the season, as he finishes his rookie season with 18 tackles (seven solo, 2.5 for loss) and a half-sack.
 
The Bengals (0-10, 0-6 Liberty League) finished the season this past Saturday, falling to St. Lawrence by a 41-6 score.
