Swimming and Diving Set for First Action of 2022

Bengals host Brockport at 5 p.m. Friday

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State swimming and diving teams are back in action this weekend, hosting Brockport on Friday at Kissinger Pool. After multiple schedule changes and cancellations, the Bengals are ready to compete for the first time in the 2022 year, and are looking to build off solid performances at the Cortland Invitational. The Bengals combined to set season-best times in 22 events at the meet. Follow along with VIDEO.
  
Eyes on the Bengal Women
 
-Hannah Heil (Medina, NY/Medina) won the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle, setting season-best times in both events.
 
-Maggie Parobek (Amherst, NY/Amherst) took first in the 100-yard breaststroke, one of three individual events where she set a season-best time.
 
Eyes on the Bengal Men
 
-Matt Banks (Lancaster, NY/St. Joe's) finished second in the 100-yard butterfly in just 55.34 seconds.
 
-The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Wesley Van (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca), Banks, Zach Nau (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport), and Sean Mahaney (Alden, NY/Alden) took second with a season-best time of 1:30.63.
 
A Bird's-Eye View of the Golden Eagles
 
-Brockport also hasn't competed yet during the 2022 calendar year. The Brockport women's team has a 4-1 overall record, while the men sport a 1-4 record this season. The Golden Eagles last competed on Dec. 3-4 at the Misericordia University Invitational.
 
-Allison Morrow finished first in the women's 200-yard and 400-yard IM with times of 2:17.21 and 4:54.63, and won the 200-yard breaststroke with a  time of 2:31.03.
 
-Nicole Orcutt won the women's 200-yard freestyle event, and teamed up with Sawyer Parker, Morrow, and Elizabeth Sagan to win the women's 400-yard and 800-yard freestyle relays. Sagan also won the women's 100-yard freestyle.
 
-Oliver Dragojevic finished second in the men's 200-yard breaststroke, and along with Matthew Chan, Billy Tolpa, and Ryan Sampson, placed third in the men's 200-yard medley relay.  
 
The History
 
The Brockport men hold a slight 8-6 advantage all-time over Buffalo State, including a 139-126 victory earlier this season on Oct. 16. The Golden Eagle women have held a 13-1 advantage all-time, and earned a 170-111 victory earlier this season.
