Women's Soccer to Host Geneseo in Cancer Awareness Game Tonight

Match kicks off at 7 p.m. from Coyer Field

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's soccer team is set to host the Knights of Geneseo in the penultimate game of the regular season tonight. The match begins at 7 from Coyer Field, and is also this season's Cancer Awareness game. The Bengals come into the matchup having lost a close battle to Potsdam 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Knights were dealt a similar 2-1 home defeat over the weekend at the hands of Cortland.

The Bengal Report

· The Bengals currently sit at 6-5-3 on the season, including a 1-4-2 mark in conference play. The Bengals can still make the SUNYAC Playoffs if they win their last two games, but they will need some help from other SUNYAC foes along the way.

· Kaylee Valentic (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) netted her fourth goal of 2022 last time out, the second most on the team. Valentic's 12 points are also tied for the fifth-most in the conference.

· Assisting on the goal was Ryan Berman (River Edge, NJ/River Dell), who tallied the sixth point of her freshman campaign.

· The Bengals altogether will look to add to their 24 goals scored so far, the third most in the conference.


Gaining Knight Insight

· Geneseo arrives in Buffalo at 8-4-2 overall, and 5-1-1 in SUNYAC competition. They have clinched a playoff berth and currently occupy the third seed.

· Lindsay Wright is the focal point of the Knights' offense, registering seven goals and four assists through 14 games.

· Wright has totaled the second most points in the conference and has netted a goal in three consecutive games.

· The Knights have given up only eight goals all season as a result of Angel Bennett's 0.59 goals against average, the third-best in the SUNYAC.


The History

· The Bengals and Knights have faced each other 34 times since 1990, with the Bengals winning five of those contests.

· Following a three-game Bengal winning streak between 2015 and 2016, the Knights have been victorious in the last four games of the series.
