BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo State women's soccer team is set for the home opener this afternoon. The Bengals face Morrsiville today, with the game set to kick off from Coyer Field at 3:00 p.m.

BREAKING DOWN THE BENGALS
-Buffalo State enters today's home opener with a 2-1 overall record. The Bengals defeated Cazenovia 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
Hannah Esslie (Cairo, NY/Cairo-Durham),
Lily Massung (East Lyme, CT/East Lyme), and
Netalia Herrera (Arkville, NY/Margaretville) all netted their first collegiate goals in the victory.

Carley LoPresto (Livonia, NY/Livonia) and
A.J. Haase (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) are the only Buffalo State players to have started all three games this season. Haase also started all 18 games for the Bengals last season. Â

Macey Gioeli (N. Tonawanda, NY/N. Tonawanda) leads Buffalo State with eight points on four goals this season. She netted all four of her goals in the opening game of the season against Pitt-Bradford, becoming the first Bengal to score at least three times in a game since Melissa Smith in 2016.
-The Bengals have scored 11 goals in the three games this season on 60 shot attempts. Meanwhile, the Buffalo State defense has conceded just three goals on eighteen shots.

-Morrisville enters the game today with a 1-1-1 overall record. The Mustangs fell to Hilbert, 4-1, yesterday afternoon.
-The Mustangs are led in goal by Meaghan Miller, who is yet to concede a goal in two games played.

Buffalo State is 3-0 against Morrisville all-time, but the teams haven't squared off against each other since 2008. In that matchup, the Bengals thoroughly dominated throughout the entire contest en route to a 12-0 victory.
