Acrobatics And Tumbling Earns First Win In Program History Over Adrian

ADRIAN, MI – The Buffalo State acrobatics and tumbling team earned their first win in program history with a 168.955-131.450 final against the Adrian Bulldogs this afternoon at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.

THE RUNDOWN
  • Adrian jumped out to an early lead scoring 25.600 points in the compulsory event while the Bengals scored 20.050 points.
  • The best heat for Buffalo State in the event was the toss heat where the Bengals tallied 8.65 points.
  • Buffalo State bounced-back winning the acro event with 21.35 points while the Bulldogs scored 19.85 points; the Bengals swept all three heats winning the five-element, six-element, and seven-element to win the event.
  • Buffalo State also had their highest scoring six-element in program history with 6.80 points as Lindsay DeBoth (Amherst, NY/Amherst), Mia Oppy (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland), Guinevere Brickman (Climax, NY/Greenville), Charmiya Dozier (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker), Codie Ryan (Owings, MD/Northern), Leah Brown (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) competed in the heat
  • To close out the first half, the Bengals outscored Adrian in the pyramid event 24.35-23.95 with just 3.25 points in deductions with the top scoring heat coming in the open with the team of Oppy, Ryan, Brickman, Adrienne Gardner (Fairfield, CA/St. Patrick-St. Vincent), Carmela Capizzi (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East), Caitlin Wilhite (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster).
  • Coming out of the break, Buffalo State took the win in their third-straight event winning the toss with 22.80 points.
  • The Bengals best heat in the toss event was the 450 Salto where the team of Dozier, Capizzi, Wilhite, Lucy Ingro (Newfane, NY/Newfane), Bri Rohrer (Cheektowaga, NY/Depew), and Emma Doherty (Akron, NY/Akron) scored 7.70 points while an 8.80 start value.
  • Adrian kept the competition close winning the tumbling event scoring 40.550 points while the Bengals tallied 34.875 points.
  • The trio of Rohrer, Dozier, and Jackie Heyden (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) won the trio pass heat with a score of 7.600 while Ingro took the win in the open pass heat scoring 8.200 points.
  • The Bengals finished the competition with 45.530 points in their first ever team event routine to secure the win.
 
UP NEXT
Buffalo State returns to action this upcoming Wednesday as they travel to Caldwell University to battle the Cougars at 6:00 pm.
