SAN MARCOS, TX – The Buffalo State men's and women's outdoor track and field teams opened their season down in The Lone Star State as they competed in the Bobcat Invite hosted by Texas State over the weekend.

 
FOR THE BENGALS

• Chris Diem (Buffalo, NY/Cleveland Hill) led the Bengal men with a fourth-place finish in the javelin throw with a personal-best mark of 51.42 meters.
• Dom Cervellera (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) finished ninth in the discus throw with a personal-mark of 47.19 meters.
• Xzavier Goodman (Buffalo, NY/Olmstead) took 12^th in the shot put with a throw of 15.84 meters while Chris Kaszynski (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore West) took 14^th in the pole vault with a leap of 4.72 meters.
• Cervellera later went on to take 12^th in the shot put while Lugo Nwokedi (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) made his Bengals debut in the triple jump with a mark of 12.41 meters.
• Gio Ventura (Geneva, NY/Geneva) also set a personal best in the 5,000 with a time of 15:56.48.
• Dylan Devine (Brockport, NY/Brockport) raced in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.94 while Sidney Morris Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) and Kai Messmer (Buffalo, NY/St. Joe's) made their collegiate outdoor debuts.
• Makhia Laster (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter) led the Bengal women with a 10^th place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.65 meters.
• Laster raced with Jenna Raczka (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) in the 400-meter dash while Paige Pavelski (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) made her Bengal outdoor debut in the shot put and discus throw with a mark of 11.01 meters and 24.16 meters, respectively.

The Bengals will return to action next weekend as they will travel down the I-90 to compete at the University of Rochester Alumni Invite.
