Acrobatics And Tumbling Ready For NCATA Division III Tournament

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State acrobatics and tumbling team is set to compete at NCATA Division III Nationals this week hosted by Concordia University Wisconsin. The Bengals will be the #7 seed and take on #2 Trine University at 2:00 pm in the first round on Thursday. Depending on the result, Buffalo State will then compete in a quarterfinal matchup or a tri-meet with the other two non-advancing schools from the opening round.

The Bengal Breakdown
  • Buffalo State finished their regular season with a record of 1-5 overall.
  • Last time out, the Bengals fell 197.675-181.760 in a battle with Stevenson.
  • Buffalo State had a program-high 35.400 points against the Mustangs in the tumbling event.
  • In the trio pass, the Bengals earned the heat win with a score of 5.650 with the team of Jackie Heyden (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island), Bri Rohrer (Cheektowaga, NY/Depew), and Charmiya Dozier (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker).
  • Adrienne Gardner (Fairfield, CA/St. Patrick-St. Vincent) also won her heat in the tumbling event six-element pass heat with a score of 7.15 points.
  • The Bengals also set new program records in the team event with a score of 57.76 points and overall meet score of 181.760.
 
Assessing The Competition
  • The Bengals will see the likes of Adrian, host-Concordia Wisconsin, East Texas Baptist, Stevenson, Texas Lutheran, Trine, and University Mary Hardin-Baylor.
  • Buffalo State earned their first program win over Adrian back in March and also faced-off with Stevenson as well as Trine.
  • University Mary Hardin-Baylor will be the #1 seed and also are the reigning-champions after defeating Trine last season in the finals.
