CORTLAND, NY – Makhia Laster (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter) broke the school record in the long jump to lead the Buffalo State track and field teams at the opening day of the AARTFC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Wednesday afternoon at SUNY Cortland.

FOR THE BENGAL WOMEN
- Laster's set the school record with a new personal best on her fourth jump of the day, then bettered that mark one jump later, finishing with a top jump of 5.99 meters to claim the regional title. Her mark also stands as the third best in the country this season, almost certainly securing qualification for next weekend's national championships.
FOR THE BENGAL MEN
- Chris Kaszynski (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore West) finished tied for fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.68 meters on his second attempt at the height.
- Kai Messmer (Buffalo, NY/St. Joe's) had a 12th-place finish with a mark of 6.70 meters in the long jump.
- Xzavier Goodman (Buffalo, NY/Olmstead) had a mark of 48.66 meters in the hammer throw, finishing in 19th place.
- Logan Abate (Green Brook, NJ/ Watchung Hills) had a time of 11.14 seconds in the 100-meter dash, finishing 25th.
