SYRACUSE, NY - The SUNYAC released its weekly honors on Monday afternoon, and
Tala Abdellatif (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) of the Buffalo State lacrosse team was honored as the PrestoSports Women's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week. The award recognizes the most outstanding defensive player in the conference for games contested in the week beginning March 21.
Abdellatif helped anchor a Buffalo State defense that forced Alfred University into 38 turnovers in a 11-5 victory for the Bengals on Tuesday afternoon. The freshman defender/midfielder caused a team-high three turnovers in the game, as Buffalo State held the Saxons to just 14 successful clearances on 24 attempts. Abdellatif also scooped up four ground balls and earned four draw controls for Buffalo State.
The Bengals begin SUNYAC play this week, traveling to face Geneseo on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
