Hannah Heil And Maggie Bilquin Named Bengal Athletes Of The Week

BUFFALO, NY – Hannah Heil (Medina, NY/Medina) and Maggie Bilquin (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) from the women's swimming and diving team have been named Bengal Athletes of the Week for their respective performances this past weekend at the SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships.
 
Heil, a sophomore fashion merchandising major, had a career meet as she helped lead the Bengal women at SUNYAC Championsips. Heil took third in both the 50 (24.19) and 100 free and finished 11th in the 200 free with a time of 1:58.56. Her time of 52.12 at finals in the 100 free broke the previous school of 52.82 set by Kaitlin Mergler. Heil also anchored the school-record breaking 200 medley relay with a 23.77 free leg and a fifth place finish. She was also part of the fifth place finishing 200 and 400 free relays, and sixth place finishing 400 medley relay. Heil also received third team All-SUNYAC in both the 50 and 100 free.
 
Bilquin, a grad-student and environmental science major, also had dominant performances for the Bengals. Bilquin set the school record in both the 100 and 200 breast while placing third in both. Her time of 1:07.27 in the 100 and 2:29.42 in the 200 both were record times by over half a second. Bilquin was also part of the record-breaking 200 medley relay swimming a 30.69 breast leg. She was also on the 400 medley relay splitting a 1:06.30 in the breast leg. Bilquin earned third team All-SUNYAC honors for her performance in the 100 and 200 breast.
