BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's volleyball team heads back out on the road this weekend, making the short trip to Rochester for the University of Rochester Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Bengals will take on R.I.T. and Rochester this evening, then wrap up play against Keuka tomorrow afternoon.

EYES ON THE BENGALS
- Buffalo State enters the weekend with a 1-4 overall record, having defeated Pitt Bradford in straight sets on Tuesday evening.
- Adi Vergara (Rio Grande, Puerto Rico/Kingdom Christian) leads the Bengals on defense through five matches, recording 50 digs. She has also registered a .927 service reception percentage.
- Karlie Shaffer (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown East) has 105 assists on the year, an average of 6.6 assists per set. She was also named to the All-Tournament Team at the Mount Union Tournament to open the season.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
- R.I.T. opened the season by going 2-2 at the Gettysburg College Battlefield Classic last weekend. The Tigers earned victories over Eastern Mennonite and Washington & Lee, while falling to Meredith and Hood. Macie Jolliffe is the kills leader with 41, and also paces the Tigers with 39 digs.
- Rochester enters the weekend with a 2-1 record. The Yellowjackets have faced a pair of Buffalo State's SUNYAC opponents in Cortland and Fredonia already this season, falling in five sets to the Red Dragons and sweeping the Blue Devils. Sonia McGaffigan has posted a .455 hitting percentage, while recording 45 kills to lead Rochester.
- Keuka holds a 4-0 record, winning the Keuka Invitational last weekend. The Wolves dropped just one set over the course of the four matches, and were led by an excellent performance by Dayna Edholm, who registered 56 kills and 43 digs on the way to earning Empire 8 Athlete of the Week honors.
THE HISTORY
- R.I.T. holds a 16-3 advantage over Buffalo State since 1990, but the Bengals earned a five-set victory over the Tigers in the last meeting in 2022, led by Samantha Coakley's (Lockport, NY/Lockport) 11 kills.
- Rochester holds a 31-11 edge over the Bengals, including a pair of victories last season.
- Buffalo State has been dominant against Keuka, with an 11-3 record against the Wolves. However, the two squads have not faced off since the 2010 season.
