BUFFALO, NY – Gavin Wilczewski (East Aurora, NY/Elma) of the Buffalo State men's volleyball team and Kira Grzechowiak (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) of the Buffalo State women's lacrosse team team have been named Bengal Athletes of the Week, presented by UBMD Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.
 
Wilczewski, a junior communications major, had a strong showing for the Bengals in the effort against Mount Union. Wilczewski led all players with 22 kills and a .380 hitting percentage, He also added five assists, one block, and seven digs. Wilczewski is currently second in the AMCC with 249 kills on the year and third with a .311 hitting percentage.
 
The men's volleyball team returns to action tomorrow with an AMCC matchup at Hilbert at 7:00 pm.
 
Grzechowiak, a senior psychology major, posted a pair of impressive performances for Buffalo State last week. In Wednesday's win over Hilbert, she tallied five goals, one assist, five ground balls, and six draw controls. In Saturday's effort against Grove City, Grzechowiak added three more goals with two draw controls and a caused turnover. She currently sits ninth in the SUNYAC with 18 points through five games of action.
 
The women's lacrosse team returns to action tomorrow as they will host Allegheny at 4:30 pm for the team's "Morgan's Message Game".
