Buffalo State University Athletics

1979-1988 

-D. Bruce Johnstone arrived at Buffalo State as President in 1979. 

-Johnstone was directly responsible for the addition of the athletics sports bubble (1986) and the ice rink/sports arena (1991).
 
-Johnstone also approved the addition of the varsity football program in 1982.
 
-D. Bruce Johnstone was instrumental in ensuring Buffalo State’s role as a host for the Empire State Games of 1985 and 1986.
