1979-1984 

-James was a member of the track team for four years.
 
-He joined the club football team and played on the Division III team for three consecutive years.
 
-James was the first Buffalo State athlete to earn a track and field national championship (Triple Jump in 1982).
 
-He was the N.Y.S. Track and Field outdoor triple jump champion in 1981 and 1982.
 
-James was the leading receiver in 1981 on the first varsity football team at BSC averaging 25 yards.
