1967-1971 

-Since there were no women’s varsity athletics at the time, Helen participated in WRA basketball, bowling and other sports.
 
-She returned to coach the Buffalo State women’s softball team in 1981 for four years.
 
-Nikiel won the SUNYAC title in 1984 during her time with the softball team, ending with a 17-8 record.
